NB Goatfell – travel update 2

Having assessed the impact of those runners affected, the RO has made the decision to go ahead as planned with the race starting at 12pm. There is still availability on the 6:30 sailing from Troon on Saturday morning. Calmac has advised that there is the option to pre-book the 10:50 sailing and go on standby for the 9:15, but is in no way guaranteed. Alternatively, you take your chances on the day with a walk on ticket.

Date: Saturday 17th May 2025

Time: 12 noon

Venue: Ormidale Pavilion, Brodick, Isle of Arran

Course: First Aid cover will be provided at the start/finish and supported by Arran Mountain Rescue on the hill.

Age Limit: Competitors must be at least 18 years old on the day of the race.

Race entry limit: 200 via online entries. On the day entries will only be considered at the Race Organiser's discretion and in the event of known late cancellations and/or if the entry limit has not already been reached.
Mandatory kit requirements: Full body waterproof cover, hat, gloves and whistle. Carrying a mechanical compass and map (and the ability to navigate) may be imposed in the event of poor weather conditions.

Insurance: Public liability cover is provided by Scottish Hill Runners.

Cancellation: In exceptionally poor weather conditions a shorter route/course will be considered. The weather can still be unpredictable in May and the RO reserves the right to cancel the race if necessary - even at short notice.
Entry refunds, less applicable ProTay fees, will be feasible until 29 April and thereafter at the RO's discretion in the event that the 200 entry level is reached and in order to free up spaces for other entrants on the waiting list.

Prizes: will be awarded in the following categories: SM, M40, M50, M60, M70, SW, W40, W50, W60, F70, First Team of 3, First Local, M & F.

Facilities: Changing facilities, toilets and baggage/valuables storage for all competitors will be available at the Ormidale Pavilion.

Registration: Those travelling on the 9:45am sailing from Ardrossan, registration will be in the observatory lounge on the ferry. Those on the island can register at the Ormidale hall from 10:00am.

Post Race: Light refreshments will be served after the race.

Travel: Competitors travelling to Arran on the day - sailing will be 9:15 from Troon and return 17:20. Please regularly check the Calmac website for sailing times which are subject to change, cancellation and limited availablity due to the ongoing issues with the ferries.
